Six Keys to Building a Vibrant Entrepreneurial Culture

Realize that enhancing your culture is directly related to increasing your productivity. Your best thinking got you to this point. Bring in an outside source to raise your level of selfawareness so that you can fix it.

Surround yourself with competent people by building systems that recruit, hire, develop, and reward them for their contribution. Skilled, talented employees want to work with others like themselves.

Set specific, challenging, yet attainable outcomes for members of your team who support the vision and help people to see the “big picture” and where they fit into it. This makes your expectations clear to them and allows them to check their own progress. Decide whom you want to retain and create a recruitment and retention plan at all levels of the organization to “keep the keepers.” It’s difficult and expensive to attract new talent.

Create performance management systems and tools that reward contributions to growth and profitability. Manage performance so that the process is meaningful to the individual and helpful in achieving organization’s vision.

Build teams that are diverse. Recruit individuals with diverse backgrounds and thinking styles and create an environment that encourages new ideas and opportunities. Gathering different perspectives may go a long way in solving problems and seizing opportunities.

Create an environment where leaders recognize accomplishments, encourage calculated risk-taking and give immediate feedback on what is going well and what needs to be improved. Coach leaders to coach others.
